Landing an Interview at SAP: Working Student Journey (COO Office of Industry Product Engineering)
Hey everyone, I’m thrilled to share a recent milestone in my academic and professional journey! A few days ago, I had the privilege of interviewing for a working student position at SAP, specifically within the COO Office of Industry Product Engineering. This opportunity is particularly exciting for me, and I wanted to share the experience with you all.
Why SAP? A Beacon of Innovation
For those who follow my work, you know my passion for innovation and technology that drives real-world impact. SAP stands as a leader in the enterprise application software landscape, constantly pushing boundaries and shaping the future of business. The prospect of contributing to such a dynamic company, even as a working student, was incredibly motivating.
Highlighting My Skills: Preparation is Key
The interview process centered around showcasing my academic background (currently in my 3rd semester at Saarland University) and relevant work experiences. This included my previous role as a HiWi (research assistant) at Fraunhofer IZFP, alongside valuable internships completed at Cisco and Deutsche Bahn.
To ensure clear and impactful communication, I strategically employed the STAR method for answering interview questions. This method involves outlining the Situation, the specific Task at hand, the Actions I took, and the resulting Outcomes. Utilizing the STAR method allowed me to effectively communicate my problem-solving skills and achievements in past experiences.
Beyond the Resume: Enthusiasm Makes a Difference
But qualifications and experience were just one piece of the puzzle. The most crucial element? Genuine enthusiasm for the position and SAP itself. I went into the interview with a genuine interest in the company’s work and a strong desire to learn and contribute. This passion for technology and my eagerness to be part of SAP’s innovative environment definitely came across in the conversation.
